One of the criticisms of the Metal Monks was the vocals; often in metal bands the vocalist will sing in a higher octave. Not so with the Monks: a Christian heavy metal magazine writer noted this and in his opinion, in the case of the Metal Monks, O'Leary's vocals "didn't work." Fair enough! I was recruited into the band somewhat against my will though in time I embraced the challenge. Humble thyself ...
With regards to the Chilliwack concert however, let's just say my vocals were not great (pitchy would be a better description). Nevertheless, for posterity's sake, I will take one for the team, if for no other reason than these recordings open a small window into those strange times.
