lyrics
Most today view God’s Word as a myth
They don’t see it as truth, so dismiss it forthwith
Something from the age of the dinosaur
No longer valid, simply ignored
Hardly any take it literally
It’s to be read, they argue, allegorically
And God is not considered the source through His Spirit
Consequently it’s brushed off, few willing to hear it
Standing on the rock
Standing on the rock
Standing on the rock
Of the Word of God
The Word of God
Prophecy is doubted despite its past accuracy
Fulfilled to the letter miraculously
Deemed irrelevant at this point in time
Put out to pasture, long in decline
This rejection of scripture began in the past
Where higher learning was esteemed
And presumed unsurpassed
Those who discard it are heralded as wise
Particularly from the perspective of their own eyes
Standing on the rock
Standing on the rock
Standing on the rock
Of the Word of God
Denying God’s Word results in the great apostasy
That abandons the cross of Calvary
Itching ears want to hear the lies and malaise
Foretold that would come in the last days
Salvation, sanctification
And encouragement in its pages
We behold the Lamb of God
The hope of the ages
Here we find life’s meaning
Where we came from, and where we’re going
We witness God’s steadfast love ever overflowing
Standing on the rock
Standing on the rock
Standing on the rock
Of the Word of God
The Word of God
Denying God’s Word results in the great apostasy
That abandons the cross of Calvary
Itching ears want to hear the lies and malaise
Foretold that would come in the last days
Standing on the rock
Standing on the rock
Standing on the rock
Of the Word of God
Standing on the rock
Standing on the rock
Standing on the rock
Of the Word of God
Standing on the rock
Of the Word of God
Standing on the rock
Of the Word of God
The Word of God.
