This song of thanksgiving is essentially the distillation of my doctoral thesis into musical form, a celebration of radical gratitude emerging from a labour of love. Performed by the Christ College Spring 2013 Songwriting & Recording class, the song's title derives from 'eucharist' (Mt. 15:36, 26:27; Mk. 8:6, 14:23; Lk. 22:17, 19; Jn. 6:11; Ac. 28:15; 1 Cor. 11:24), literally "good grace;" colloquially speaking, εὐχαριστία means "thanksgiving," even (and particularly) "cheers."
The true Host invites us to His Supper: let us raise the Cup of Salvation to our Lord of the Banquet who presides over this Table of grace, this portent and foretaste of that great Marriage Feast of the Lamb.
Εὐχαριστία !
